Cancer Land —a collage piece about breast cancer
Cancer Land is a collage piece, compiled by Becky Peters-Combs and Peggy Benedict, to raise $25,000 for Sue Miller's Day of Caring and Komen-Colorado for breast cancer research.
After soliciting the stories of 56 women and men who have have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and the stories of their friends, children, grandchildren, spouses, caregivers, and doctors, and realizing that no one is on the same cancer odyssey, Peters-Combs and Benedict wove together the script of Cancer Land.
For this script, NPR's Madulita Sikka donated full access to her book, The Alphabet of Breast Cancer, (the stories of what happened to her during her diagnosis and treatment).
Writers also include Dottie Lamm, Dick Lamm, Penny Parker, Lisa Haifleigh, Cliff Chanin, Elizabeth Johnston, Kathleen Huggins, Julie Groves, Dr. Dunn, Dr. Scholes, Dr. Kechriotis Nelson, NPR’s Madhulita Sikka and 44 other brave women and men who share their light and dark moments. Cancer Land presents these narratives, read by 16 of the contributors.
